| Like you, I do not
enjoy reading how much the school districts are strapped for money and
how they can't afford to maintain their current buildings and how they
need new buildings due to over crowding and poor, yet expensive,
conditions. I don't enjoy knowing how many kids are in each classroom, how many grades are in one building and how many buildings need to close to save money all while making the first two issues even worse. It would be nice to hear of a school that has a great teacher per child ratio. A school that has plenty of room for its current attendance yet can easily expand to accommodate the ever increasing number of "green" sub divisions that continue to be thrown up with little concern for their financial burden on the community yet pocketing millions of dollars for its developers. The districts need new structures and need to stop pouring money into the old, outdated and inefficient ones. They need to build something that has long and short term benefits for everyone. How about a building that cost less in time and money then a conventional building of the same size? How about a building that has such low energy consumption that its savings pay for itself over its lifetime? How about a building that has a lifetime of centuries and not decades? If I were a parent I think I would want to know about buildings that can qualify for FEMA grants of 75% to 90% funding in most areas. With the billions of bond dollars available in Illinois just reported about in this paper, maybe its time the public, voters and tax payers all stood up and asked; "Where can we find such a building?"... Well, I have been calling, emailing and asking to talk to anyone that would listen and I am tired of my voice not being heard. Due you want your children going to the prettiest school in the county or the safest and most efficient? A Monolithic Dome School is the answer to all the questions and its time people started to listen!! |
